The Solomon Airlines Board have signed an eight year US$3 million term loan agreement with the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund Board on 4th of August 2023 at the SINPF Office in Honiara. The SINPF provided the USD$3million dollars loan (approximately SBD$26million dollars) after securing approval from the Minister of Finance, to enable Solomon Airlines to meet its initial lease and set up costs for the second Airbus, H4 –SAL.

Representing the two institutions at the signing were, Chairman of Solomon Airlines Board Frank Wickham and his Board Director Tony Makabo, SINPF Board Chairman Dr Jimmie Rodgers and CEO/ General Manager Mike Wate.

The ordinary Solomon Islanders who are members of SINPF can be proud that they have made it possible for our National Carrier to open this new chapter in its history by enabling it to double its international carrying capacity which will bring benefits to our country.

SINPF approving the loan to Solomon Airlines is a clear testament of its commitment and recognizing the importance to invest more on our tourism sector in Solomon Islands as the nation is approaching to host the 2023 Pacific Games between 19th November and 2 December 2023.

SINPF understands that the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in his remarks at the arrival of the inaugural flight of the new Solomon Airlines Airbus said the achievements have come as we count down to the 2023 pacific Games where our National Carrier is also the Flag carrier for the 2023 Pacific Games.
