SINPF Participates in 2024 Independence Float Parade
[NPFNEWS] Solomon Islands National Provident (SINPF) joined the independence anniversary float parade on Monday the 8th of July 2024 in Honiara.
The float parade started at 6:30 am to 7:30am. The government lead float parade joined by various government ministries, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), foreign diplomatic missions and others.
There were two groups paraded, one started at the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and another from the Henderson Police Station in Central Guadalcanal and merge at the National Stadium for the national celebration.
SINPF recognise that independence is an important occasion to remember the struggles and sacrifices our forefathers have endured to give us Solomon Islanders our sovereignty.
The 7th of July is a special day in the history of Solomon Islands. It is the date the country Solomon Islands born as nation, thus we celebrate the 7th of July each year whether in SI or in other countries where we stay.
We are so fortunate because our nation did not endure sustained struggle for Independence, but it was given to us on a golden plate unlike other countries in the world they gained their independence through a shed of blood.
Solomon Islands 46th Independence Anniversary fall on Sunday the 7th of July 2024; thus, Solomon Islands Government sees it fitting to move the celebration for Monday 8th, and declared a National Public Holiday.
Present in the event were government ministers, members of parliament, diplomatic corps, senior government officials and the public.
