SINPF donate to NRH Cancer Trust Fund

The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund has donated Five Thousand Dollars to the National Referral Hospital Cancer Trust Fund on Thursday 10th of October 2024.

The handing over of the donation was coincide with a Cancer Awareness Talk conducted by Dr Andrew Soma who is a Medical Oncology Trainee at National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara.

He explains Funds collected is to assist with treatment and care of patients and support research. Researches which will detect tumours earlier, improve outcomes and ultimately save lives.

Researches which will detect tumours earlier, improve outcomes and ultimately save lives. Dr Soma and his team has acknowledged the SINPF for donation of $5,000.00.

Dr Soma acknowledge all staff for availability to cancer awareness and he also encourages all staff to do extra workout at their own respective home.

He strongly advises NPF staffs to eat a lot of fruits like tomatoes and cucumbers for activating his/her white blood cell against cancer disease and other related illness.

Dr Soma is appealing for any staff who have experienced changes occurred to within her /his body function to quickly check with our SNO for referral.

The risks and signs of breast cancer, and other cancers in Solomon Islands. She said Breast Cancer is currently one of the top 5 cancers in the Solomon Islands today. Proper facilities, logistics and adequate awareness continue to be a challenge.

SINPF as a leading Financial Institution in the country is supportive of the incredible work done by Cancer Unit at the National Referral Hospital.

Every year in October, countries all around the world celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, called “Pinktober.” There are many campaigns held by women’s health charities and community organizations that shed light on the prevailing issue. The goal of Pinktober is to create awareness, educate women about the disease, and raise money to help treat those that are affected by it.
