SINPF Donate to Pinktober Campaign

October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month or Pinktober because of Pink Ribbon Day on Friday 21st of October, 2022.

The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) recognised the importance of this issue to organized a donation and hand it over to Pharmacists Miss Gladys Habu.

Speaking at the handing over, Miss Habu said fund collected from SINPF is to assist with treatment and care of patients and support research. Researches which will detect tumours earlier, improve outcomes and ultimately save lives.

Miss Habu highlighted the risks and signs of breast cancer, and other cancers in Solomon Islands. She said Breast Cancer is currently one of the top 5 cancers in the Solomon Islands today. Proper facilities, logistics and adequate awareness continue to be a challenge.

She highlighted the campaign provides an important opportunity for us all to focus on breast cancer and its impact on our community, particularly here in the Solomon Islands. Each of us can relate to this cause, as we know someone who is going through cancer or has passed because of cancer.

Meanwhile in a joint statement from SINPF has revealed that SINPF as a leading financial institution in the country is supportive of the incredible work done by Cancer Unit at the National Referral Hospital.

SINFP staff contributed financially to Cancer Trust Fund that is to be handed over to the Oncology Department to assist with treatment for those diagnosed with cancer.

Every year in October, countries all around the world celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, called “Pinktober.” There are many campaigns held by women’s health charities and community organizations that shed light on the prevailing issue. The goal of Pinktober is to create awareness, educate women about the disease, and raise money to help treat those that are affected by it.
