The Minister of Finance and Treasury Hon. Rex Ramofafia has officially announced the 5.5% crediting rate for its members at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara on Wednesday 30th of September 2026.

Minister Ramofafia said more than $200 million being credited to members accounts.

The Minister also announced a $10,000 Special Death Benefit. He acknowledged the Fund's strong underlying investment performance but noted that movements in the valuation of domestic equities and investment properties had affected the overall financial result.

Minister Ramofafia commended the SINPF Board, management and staff for prudently managing members' savings and urged the Fund to progress the new SINPF legislation to modernise the Fund and strengthen members' retirement savings as SINPF enters its next 50 years.

He said the rate benefits approximately 211,853 SINPF members, comprising 157,737 formal-sector members and 54,116 informal-sector members.

SINPF recorded a net operating gain of around SBD $143.08 million, while its investment portfolio was valued at more than SBD $4.74 billion.

The Minister acknowledged the Fund's strong underlying performance but the overall result was affected by volatility in the valuation of domestic equities and investment properties. Last year's crediting rate was 8%.

Minister Ramofafia also urged the SINPF Board to progress the new SINPF legislation, saying the Government was committed to modernizing the Fund's legislative framework. He noted that the new legislation would support members in growing their retirement savings while also meeting short-term financial needs.

He indicated that SINPF reform and the review of its legislation were long overdue and should help transform the Fund as it enters its next 50 years.

The crediting rate declaration was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, Dr. Luke Forau, SINPF Board Chairman Dr. Philip Tagini, Deputy Chairman Mr. Ronald Dive, members of the SINPF Board, and CEOs and managers of SINPF subsidiaries.
