The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF), through its youSave scheme, has an important opportunity to promote financial literacy, voluntary savings and long-term financial security among Solomon Islanders participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.

The PALM Scheme Approved Employer Expo, held in Honiara on 20 October 2026, that brings together Australian approved employers and Solomon Islands stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and showcase the country’s workforce preparation and labour mobility systems.

The Senior Customer Service Officer – Informal Sector Mr. John Alepio Bana said through youSave, eligible Solomon Islanders working overseas can establish savings accounts and make voluntary contributions towards their future financial security. The scheme provides an opportunity for workers to develop good saving habits, manage their earnings responsibly and prepare financially for their return home.

He said SINPF’s youSave services also support financial education, savings arrangements and access to digital contribution channels, helping eligible workers maintain their savings goals while participating in overseas employment programmes.

The Expo provides a valuable platform to highlight the importance of responsible financial management alongside overseas employment opportunities. By saving part of their earnings, workers can work towards long-term goals, including supporting their families, preparing for retirement and investing in small businesses when they return to Solomon Islands.

Mr. Bana said SINPF continues to promote financial inclusion by encouraging eligible Solomon Islanders to save for their future, regardless of their employment status or location.

Through initiatives such as youSave, the Fund aims to strengthen a culture of saving and help Solomon Islanders build greater financial resilience for themselves and their families.
